Loving Memory Of YUKIE
Yukie felt so strange. She felt the world spinning away from her, as if she was falling, but not falling.
She heard strange sounds, almost like music. It wasn't frightening or painful, like she had been afraid of.
It was so very peaceful that she simply let herself drift and let the music swell around her.
After a time the spinning sensation stopped and Yukie found herself on solid ground.
She kept her eyes closed, afraid of what she might see. She heard so many strange things and thought
she heard voices. She kept her eyes tightly closed.

"Ains't she evers gonna open her eyes?" came a peeper's voice.
"Shhhh, child. Give her time." The voice was so gentle that Yukie slowly opened her eyes.
She saw a stately siamese standing before her. She smiled at her.
"Welcome to the Rainbow Bridge, Yukie. I am Moki"
"And I am Beethoven, welcome".
"And I am Eatbugs, welcome".

Yukie looked around. There were dozens of kiddens all smiling at her and welcoming her.
"Where am I?", asked Yuki trying to take everything in at once.
"You are at the Rainbow Bridge", said a dignified tom, "I am Lucky and this is my brother
Charlot. Welcome to the Bridge."
"Lucky. I know you. My mom cried when she heard that you died."

Lucky looked down at his feet for a moment, "I know. And she cries now for you. But in time she will understand."
Yukie looked back over her shoulder at the place where he'd arrived. He thought of his humans and was sad.
The kidden called Eatbugs approached Yukie and gave him a nuzzle, "The sadness will pass, my friend",
he said in a comforting voice.
"But will I ever stop missing them?", asked Yulie.

"Of course not, not as long as you love them. But you can hear them if you concentrate hard.
And you can even see them. We will teach you how. And until you can be with them again you have
us to keep you company" said Eatbugs indicating the kiddens standing around Yukie. Yukie looked at them.
The kindness and concern in their eyes soothed her.
Yukie felt something brush against her and looked down. The peeper looked up at her with her large eyes,
"You ains't gonna crys or nothin' are you?" she asked.
Yukie had to laugh. "No little one. Do you have a name?".
"I is Tiny Bubbles. You wants me to show you the bestest sleepy spots????".
Her eager little face lifted Yukie spirits, "I would be most honored."
Tiny Bubbles nearly burst with pride. "Comes on" she grabbed her paw and started to pull her over the bridge.

"Just a minute, my little friend. I have something that I must do." She walked back to the end of the bridge
and looked over. She pursed her whiskers and concentrated. "Tucky, if you can hear me,
take good care of my humans. Don't let them stay sad and don't ever let them be lonely."
She felt the familiar touch of her young friend and knew she had been heard. She turned and took
Tiny Bubbles by the paw. She smile up at her and quietly hes followed as her new found friends
led her over the bridge to his new home.
